  2. IMPORTANT!! IMPORTANT!! ESSENTIAL!! READ THIS!! DO NOT SKIP!!

  4. TO INSTALL:
  5.  
  6. 1) If you have just downloaded the shareware version of MYTHIC
  7. BEARS 1, unzip the archive to a directory of choice. Start Windows, 
  8. if you have not done so already, and open File Manager. Choose 
  9. Run ... and type in the correct path statement for install.exe. 
  10. Click on OK and the short installation process will begin. You 
  11. can also open the directory and file display for the directory of 
  12. choice and double click on install.exe to start the installation.

  14. 2) If you have the registered version on 3 1/2" floppies, put 
  15. disk 1 into the small floppy drive which is either drive A
  16. or B depending upon your configuration. Open File Manager and
  17. select Run. Type A:\install or B:\install and click OK. The
  18. installation dialogs are self explanatory and involve only a
  19. few very simple decisions. You may also open the directory and
  20. file display for your floppy drive and double click upon
  21. install.exe to begin the installation procedure.

  23. 3) THIS SCREEN SAVER INSTALLS ITSELF INTO THE DESKTOP ITEM OF THE
  24. WINDOWS CONTROL PANEL. It does not make a program group upon
  25. installation. MAKE CERTAIN YOUR MONITOR IS SET TO 256 COLOR
  26. PALETTE or the images will appear degraded and pixelated.
  27. Open the Control Panel and double click upon Desktop. Activate the 
  28. screen saver and set its timing through the Screen Saver dialog within 
  29. the Desktop item. You may preview it with Test and set an optional 
  30. password protection with Setup.

  33. 4) YOU MUST READ README.TXT which is displayed within the Windows
  34. Notepad upon the completion of a successful installation. DO
  35. NOT SKIP! READ THIS TEXT FILE!! And print it out for further reference: 
  36. it contains a wealth of information. Readme.txt contains essential
  37. information about configuring the screen saver through Desktop in
  38. the Windows Control Panel; registration form; license
  39. agreement; file list etc. All of this information also exists as
  40. separate text files on disk 3 but these files do not install onto 
  41. your hard drive.

  44. IMPORTANT!! IF YOU ARE A REGISTERED USER, READ THIS!!
  45.  
  46. 5) THE ANTHROPOLOGY TEXT EXPLAINING THE AINU BEAR RITUAL DOES NOT
  47. INSTALL ONTO YOUR HARD DRIVE. IT IS AINU.TXT AND CAN BE FOUND ON
  48. DISK 2 or 3.

  50. 6) If you edit the default destination during the installation
  51. of MYTHIC BEARS, DO NOT INSTALL A REGISTERED VERSION INTO THE SAME 
  52. DIRECTORY AS YOUR SHAREWARE VERSION because the slide show will
  53. be disabled. If you accidentally did so, then follow this
  54. procedure:

  56.         a) Delete all files and the BEARS directory.
  57.         b) Delete the INI AND SCRIPT FILES IN YOUR WINDOWS
  58.         DIRECTORY. There will be two such files: bear####.scr 
  59.         and bear####.ini. This operation will also delete BEARS 
  60.         from the list of screen savers in the Desktop Item of the 
  61.         Windows Control Panel. 
  62.         c) Restart Windows.
  63.         d) Reinstall MYTHIC BEARS.
